Ms. Basma Fakri

Since 2014, Ms. Fakri serves as Executive Director of Iraq Foundation and is an ex-officio member of the Board of Directors. Ms. Fakri is responsible for program implementation, administration and operations.

Since April 2003, Ms. Fakri worked tirelessly for bringing Iraqi women’s voice to policy makers, media and the public.  She attended numerous meetings at the White House, the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. Department of State as part of various Iraqi women’s delegations.  She has participated in several peaceful demonstrations in different cities in the US and events supporting a free and democratic Iraq.  

 She worked as a Voter Education Officer and a National Counting Officer in Michigan with IOM during Iraq Out-of-Country voting in January 2005.

On Oct. 25, 2005 addressed the UN Security Council in a closed session about Iraqi women’s issues and the importance of their role in building the peace in Iraq.  

Ms. Fakri received a Master in Public Administration in 2008 from Harvard Kennedy School.  She also, has a bachelor degree from Baghdad University and a master degree from TN State University both in Civil Engineering.
