Women Against Violence and Extremism (WAVE)
Iraq Foundation (IF) implemented a 13-month pilot project in 4 locations, the city of Mosul and Hamdaniya in Nenawa governorate; Hayy Al-Mal’ab in Ramadi, Anbar governorate; and Hayy Arba’een in the city of Tikrit, Salaheddin governorate, with the goal of equipping women to build family and community resilience against violence and extremism. The project provided a core group (56) of returnee (and IDP) women who are survivors of violence with training to enable them to coach and guide a broader segment of women in their communities.

ERW Final Report
The Iraq Foundation received a grant from the German government to empower Female Head of Households (FHH) and other women in recently liberated areas from Da’esh (ISIS) in Nenawa, Salaheddin, and Anbar. IF cultivated stabilization in these areas by building the capacity of these women to be leaders in their communities. IF coordinated with IOM while implementing in 5 liberated areas in the aforementioned provinces.

Al-Rasid Project
Al-Rasid (meaning “the monitor” in Arabic) had the goal of supporting Iraq’s National Action Plan (NAP) of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 (Women, Peace, and Security) and aimed to holistically address gender-based violence (GBV) in Iraq. The Project was funded by the United States Department of State’s Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labour.

Hewar Project
The Iraq Foundation launched the Hewar Initiative to Enhance Judicial Outreach and Transparency in August 2013.

Peaceful Empowerment, Advocacy, and Cooperation to End Violence (PEACE)
PEACE established a National Task Force in Iraq on the Elimination of Gender Based Violence (GBV) and provided a national platform for leading women and men and community-based organizations advancing successful efforts to eliminate violence against women and other forms of gender-based violence.
